No one wants sticky eyebrows, do they?

Hey bloggers.

So many moons ago I trained to be a beauty therapist and I have a NVQ2/3 qualification but I never went into beauty therapy has an actual job. I ended up going back to A levels and did something really irrelevant at university instead.

But the one thing I loved doing when I was training in beauty was eyebrow waxing. Now most people in my class hated eyebrow waxing because it was a pain setting up the wax equipment for such a small job.

I loved doing it because eyebrows make up such a huge part of the face. Change them slightly and you can make your whole face look completely different.

So when I saw the Nair ultra precision roll on in Boots. I couldn't wait to try it as for the last few years I have been plucking my eyebrows instead of waxing.

So I left my eyebrows to grow a bit wild and decided to try it out. (Sorry for the dodgy picture)
All you did with the nair was place the wax in warm water for three minutes, then place on the eyebrows and wax off.

Should have been great.

But sadly I was very disappointed with the nair wax kit.
It was so easy to use though. I loved the roller ball action but it just didn't grab any of the hairs.
It did sometimes rip a couple of hairs out but not all. So I ended up looking like the picture above. The same but slightly more sticky. Luckily the Nair wax was water soluble and did wash off really easily. One plus.

Now I hope it was just because the wax wasn't hot enough why the Nair just didn't work but it was just a bit disappointing especially after not waxing my eyebrows for so long. I was looking forward to giving my tweezers a rest.

Sadly this was not to be.

I'm not sure if I will use the Nair again. One day I might give it a second chance but it won't be for a good while yet.
The good thing was that the Nair wax was on offer in Boots for £2.99 so I didn't waste too much money.

Finally got it. Was it worth the wait?

Hey bloggers.
Hope your having a good day and still enjoying the lovely weather we have been having.

About three weeks ago I did a post on coloured nail varnish crackle.
The one I really wanted was the Barry M instant effects in white.

Well today I finally got my mitts on one.

What I love about a white crackle is the contrast your going to get with a dark colour underneath.

So for these pictures I have chosen to try the crackle with
Rimmel wear maxx in 397 Electric.
Which is a gorgeous navy blue, with a hint of sparkle too :)

Then I just painted the Barry M white crackle on top.
I love how small the crackle is when it's a new bottle because after a while the Varnish thickens and that makes the cracks to get large and sometimes a bit blotchy and that makes it look a little bit cheap and tacky and we don't want that.

I think this will look good with varnish in Grey, black and even bright colours like orange and yellow.

The new question is though. How long will crackle stay a trend?
Because sadly I don't think this time next year it will still be around.

So have you tried the new Barry M colour crackle?
In blue, pink or the white?
Let me know.

Sparkle and a girly colour.

Hey all.
Hope your enjoying the boiling hot weather we are having.

This week was payday, so I treated myself to some new things but because I am saving up for a holiday to Australia. So I couldn't buy half as much as I wanted. :(

The first product I brought was the Maybelline eyestudio color explosion duo.
In taupe opal.

I brought this because the opal colour is extremely sparkly and everyone knows I love a bit of glitter.
It comes in a range of colours but I chose the silver because I have lots of the bright colours already in other eye palettes and I needed a nice a silver.

I don't have any eyeliner or mascara on but I think this is going to look great on a night out. The opal probably be worn on most days.

You can see here how sparkle really looks.

Here is more of the colours

The only issue I have with this. Is the eyeshadow is really small and even my small fingers struggled to get any of the product out.

The next product I have bought is Revlon nail colour in passion fruit.
This nail varnish when dry leaves a fruity scent.
The scent is not strong but it's better then the chemical varnish smell.
Now the varnish looks pants on my nails, but this is because of me not the varnish. (I was rushing)
I love how good the coverage of this varnish is.
In one coat it looked good but two was even better.
For a more even and striking coverage.

Again there are lots of summery colours, like greens and purples. I would love to get more but again money is tight so it may have to be put on hold.
Here is just an idea of some of the scented colours.

Have you tried any other of the colours in the Maybelline eyeshadows or in the Revlon scented colours?

Do you have a watch?

Hey Bloggers.
Hope you are all good on this lovely warm night.

I wanted to mention some new products I have recently brought.

Avon Nail Prowear in Sunshine and Decadence

As you can see from the picture I have also painted my nails in both colours.
Now I have used Avon Nail varnishes for years and they used to be amazing, so I fancied trying some because I haven't brought any from Avon in a long time.

So I was so disappointed in the formula for these ones.
The varnish was so thin. That the purple (Check SpellingDecadence) took three coats to look decent and the yellow (Sunshine) took five coats.
Now 5 coats is just a little bit excessive and even then it still didn't fully cover the nail. So it would probably need a sixth coat.

Six coats.
I have seriously more better things to do with my time and it is not going to be spent literally watching paint dry.

A huge disappointment.
Especially when the colours were so lovely.

Would a beauty magazine ever work?

Hey Bloggers.
Hope you are having a great day.

The other week I was in WHSmith browsing the old magazine section.
Secretly I was looking for Formula One magazines (But that's another blog :P)
So I ended up down the monthly's section and saw the haircare and hair style magazines.

Now on occasion when I have no idea what hair style to go for, I purchase one of these for inspiration.
But I noticed something missing.
Where is the magazines that just focus on beauty and beauty products?
I looked for a while but it was all haircare.

Now am I the only one that can see a huge gap in the market?
I would love a weekly magazine that told me all the latest products and looks.

Then I had a thought about it.
Sadly we may never see a magazine like this.
The reason for it is this...

The weekly's and monthly's celebrity magazines like Look, Heat and Cosmo contain all that kind of information.
New products and the latest looks, plus all the celeb news you want.
Which is a shame because I would I would be first in line for a copy of that bad boy.
Then I would be first in line for a job there too.

Maybe beauty bloggers should unite and make this happen

Stubborn Eczema

Hey Bloggers.
Hope you are having a lovely day/night.

Now I want to talk about eczema.
Eczema is something that most people will suffer from at some point.
I have don't have it bad, but I always have a patch on me on some point in my life and the older I get.
The more stubborn it gets.

And the more stubborn it gets. The more that conventional products just stop working.
I have gone through phases of using Savlon, E45, Sudocrem, Tea-Tree oil and even vitamin E oil.
They worked for a time but slowly and slowly they have just stopped working for me.

But I have found a new product to help.
However it just doesn't help my eczema.
It also removes make up too.

Lush's Ultrabland is actually a cream cleanser, to help remove make up and clean your face but lately it has been helping my eczema.
It has a butter like consistency, but is packed full of moisturizing ingredients such as rose and honey, which explains why it can help with dry skin conditions.

The good news is. If it doesn't work for your eczema at least you can use it to take off your make up.
Double win.

It only cost £6.10 too and the tub lasts for ages. So you get your value for money.
You can buy in store or online

This is how it looked before. Very Red and sore. It also started to spread.

This is how it is looking now.
It now looks less red and it is starting to get smaller.
I thank Ultrabland :)

Pink and Black make up look.

Hey Bloggers.
Hope you are all good.
Loving this warm weather we are having.

Lately I am loving the hot pink lipstick look, But because I have thin lips lipstick doesn't seem to suit me as much.
So I have took the trend and made it suitable for everyone.
By using a lip stain and then topping it off with a colour change lip gloss.
I love this gloss and lip/cheek stain. The too faced lip gloss comes out purple but changes to a colour pink which suits your lips/skin.

Has you can see really makes my lips pop.
(Even if they are the thinnest lips ever)

I have teamed this look with more subdued eyes. No eyeshadow but lashings of mascara and a topped with a line of thick black liquid eyeliner.
As you can tell, my eyeliner is running out but you get the jist of how this look works on the eyes.

Pink and black are colours that work well together.
Mainly because each, helps the other stand out.

I like the fact that this look is great for nights out because it's simple to do but makes an impact and also works well with a dressy outfit.
This is the finished look.
Can't wait to wear it out and about.

Looks this week.

Hey Bloggers
Hope you are having fun this week.
I will be because I am off work. Yay

So you might notice a few more posts this week.
It will be a combination of new posts and posts that I just never got round to typing up.

This is just a short post of some of the make up looks I have tried this week.

This is the lovely Barry M nail varnish in grey I wore recently.
I love colours that are different but still really wearable.
This grey looks really modern and it makes my stubs of nails looks a little bit longer.
Looks nice with my casuals (Jeans and T-shirts) but looks really sophisticated with a dress, on a night out.
Plus grey goes with most colours. Win

Lately this is the eyeliner I have been getting the most compliments from.
It's a Gosh liquid eyeliner in electric blue and it is amazing.
Similar to Mac's liquid liners because once you put it on.
It stays on.

You can rub it and it does not smudge. I love it. I bring it out every so many months because the colour is so bright and really cheers you up.
It also makes blue eyes pop.
It's also perfect for this spring/summer 70's vibe trend. (More on that in a later post)

This is my favourite look nail wise this week.
It is the 17 nail crackle that I reviewed at end of last week and I teamed it with a royal blue colour from Barry M.
It's such an unusual colour combination.
Goes really well with my casuals of T-shirt and jeans.
:):)

Coloured crackle?

Hey bloggers.
Hope you have had a super duper week.

After the several blog posts I have done on the Barry M's instant effect nail varnish in black
The trend for crackle is still big.

But it's changing...

Colour.

Nails Inc have just announced new colours of crackle including purple (Which I would love to try) and pink.

Barry M are bringing out a new range of colours at only £3.99 each, so far though I haven't seen them on the shelf in shops in Nottingham yet so I'm hoping they will be out soon.
They come in Blue, pink and white. The white is the one I'm looking forward to. I love dark background nails with bright foregrounds :)

Barry M Instant Nail Effects Pink FizzBarry M Instant Nail Effects Blue PrintBarry M Instant Nail Effects White Frost

17 at boots has also brought out a shade of crackle at a reasonable price.
The best part.

It's in a colour that no one else has done.(Or at least I think so)
Gold.

Well it looks more like a gold silver mix.

Now I have tried the 17 today.
I used Nails inc on my little finger and Barry M in racing green on my ring finger.
Now I know when you use crackle, it's going to be unique everytime.
But I prefer how it looks on the green then to the plum shade.

That said, it does dry very quickly and is a very nice change from the black crackle that everyone has been wearing.
Plus it would look amazing over more dark nail colours, such as Navy and Black.

So 17 is OK and I will wear it but I think I will wait for the more wearable Barry M colours.
Now just find a rich man to buy me the nails Inc special effects in purple. :):):)
