Should it stay or should it go now?

Hey all.
Hope you have all been good.
I am sorry I haven't been around but I have been in the process of moving house and had to wait quite a while to get the internet put in.

So a short post to ease us back in and this involves a trivial matter of the hair kind.
The last time you saw me my hair was blonde but I have got to the stage recently where it was starting to look really brassy and a bit dull.
So I decided to dye my hair brown.

However like any impulse decision I'm not sure if I did the right thing.

So I have a blonde hair dye ready and waiting (Because I panicked and brought both colours)
So has my regular readers you will be deciding whether I should stick with brown or go back to blonde.

So here are some pictures to help you decide.

Here is me with blonde hair and this is the last recent photo of me taken with blonde hair.

And this is me with recently dyed brown hair.

So now it's decision time.
You can either comment which I should colour I should go for below the post or if your on twitter you can just tell me there @squiffany

So go on decide my fate.
:)

Twitter swap with Beauty Boudoir.

So after a bit of time away I am back to blogging and it's only fair that my first post is long overdue one.

Several weeks ago me and Miss A from Beauty Boudoir did a product swap.
I sent her some lovely Lush goodies and this is what I got in return.

Seriously I have never been so excited by a parcel.
So in the package was:

Label M peppermint hair treatment.
Myface cosmetics lip gloss No133
Rituals eyeshadow in Rose Petal
Rituals nail varnish in Sapphire Moon.

Now I have had time to try them I can tell you all about them.
The Label M peppermint hair treatment is now one of my new favourite products. I have really thin/oily hair and I find some hair treatments leave my hair too soft and lank. So I can't style or do anything with my hair but Label M made my hair soft and silky so it didn't weigh it down plus the peppermint even helped my oily hair.
The best bit though was how it made your head tingle and in this mini heatwave we are having in the UK this week it was a treat.

Now I have never tried any of the Rituals range before so I was excited to receive two of their products.
Now blue is my favourite colour so to receive the Sapphire moon varnish was amaze.
It's a very dark navy blue and although thick to apply, did leave a lovely shine.
The only issue I found was that it did stain my nails but luckily a better nail varnish remover cleared that up.

The Rituals eyeshadow is a gorgeous pale pink. Perfect for the daytime. In fact it's so good I have even been using it has a blush/highlighter. Multi tasking products are always a win.

Again I have never tried any Myface products. Now I'm very fair (Blonde hair, blue eyed and uber pale), so it was nice to be able to try the fair range. Now I always wear lip gloss. So I was looking forward to trying this. Now it's not has thick as my other lip glosses which meant a lot of reapplying. Not good on a night out but I did love the colour and it had just a hint of sparkle.
Now a sign of a good beauty product is if it ends up in my make up bag, which this did. So a big seal of approval from me.

By the way you should definitely check out Miss A's beauty blog. Mainly because it's one of the best beauty blogs out there and Miss A reviews of products are honest and a complete joy to read.
Plus she's my Canberra Milk kid (In joke there)

You can check out Miss A's blog here.

The website for all the products are here.

BIOeffect EGF Serum: Review

Hey bloggers.
Long time no speak.

I promise that I have been busy preparing lots of lovely new beauty posts for the next few weeks.
This is just one of many reviews that are coming up.

Now a few months ago I talked about how great serums were and how I have started to incorporate them into my skin care routine.
You can read the post here.
http://getyourglitterout.blogspot.com/2011/02/serums-yay-or-nay.html

Well a few weeks ago I got sent this.
BIOeffect EGF Serum.

It claims that.

BIOEFFECT EGF Serum is a next-generation anti-ageing serum that improves the appearance and health of your skin by encouraging the skin to repair its own cells. Its key ingredient is Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), a substance which occurs naturally in human skin and which has the ability to speed up the rate of cell turnover within the skin.

Cellular activators are proteins that are vital for the maintenance and repair of skin cells. With age the level of these cellular activators within our skin decreases. Our skin renews itself less frequently, and begins to look less radiant and more wrinkled. Regular, once or twice daily use of BIOEFFECT EGF Serum reverses this process and gives visible dramatic improvements within weeks.

Well I may be in my mid twenties but anything that claims to make my skin look fresher and even younger. I will happily use.
The smell of BIOeffect was lovely just a clean, fresh smell. So it didn't effect any of the smells of my other beauty products. The consistency was a cross between a water and gel base.

What I loved about BIOeffect Serum was how little you needed and it was so moisturising that I didn't even need to use a night cream on top and when I woke up there was no residue on my face. A sign that it properly soaked into my skin.

Now in the month that I used the BIOeffect serum, I didn't get any compliments on my skin but I personally think my skin looked fresher, more renewed and some lines softened.

But sadly one problem occurs with BIOeffect Serum.
The price.
I had a 3ml size and it should of been £30.
The full size of 15ml is £125!

Now I can barely afford my bus fare these days.
So £125 for a serum is downright outrageous, especially in a time of recession.

So sadly until I find a rich man.
BIOeffect EGF Serum will be staying on the shelf.

Which is a shame because I would recommend it to anyone.
How ever if you do have a bit of cash. It is worth the investment.

You can get it here.

Sleek pout paints review.

Anyone who reads my blog posts will know I am not the biggest fan of my lips.
Lets just say I wasn't blessed in the Angelina Jolie department.

So the combination of a thin top lip has always made me quite wary of lipstick (Especially bright coloured lipstick). So I usually tend to stick to lip gloss to make my lips seem bigger.
But for the last few weeks I have heard a lot of buzz around Sleek pout paints.
Which are heavily pigmented lip colours that can be mixed together to create your own customized lip colour.

And after waiting an age for them to appear in the shops.
I found one.

I tried 154 in Mauve over.
Which is a beautiful pinky/purple.

What I love about pout paints is how little you need to use and you can build up the depth of colour has you go.

Not only can you mix Pout paints with other colours of pout paints.
You can use other lip gloss colours to create a colour unique to you.

The downsides to pout paints are that they take ages to dry resulting in things like this happening.

And because it has a nib instead of a brush, it's hard to get a perfect finish which for my thin lips. I really need.

But the colour takes ages to wear off and in the last few days my pout paint has gave me plenty of compliments by friends on my new make up.
Plus by mixing it with lip gloss I have had a different lip look everyday with just a £5 lipstick.
Surely here the pro's very much outweigh the cons.

You can buy Sleek from Superdrug or at Sleek online.

Lush retro order.

So a few weeks ago I ordered some retro products from Lush.
I'm very excited to try them out but I thought I would show you first what I bought.
Then I can give a review in a later blog post.

First two products are bubble bars.
Now I haven't used these ones in years. So I'm very excited to try them out again.
The white one is Ice Hotel
A mixture of mint and Lavender.
So calms you down whilst refreshing you at the same time.

The pink one is It's a date.
(I could do with a real one at the moment but the bubble bar will have to suffice)
Is a pink fruity concoction, with tangerine oil and it even has a little piece of date on the top.
Pretty.
Though so far it has dyed half my stuff pink.
Has you can see from the other photos.

The shower gel is Tramp.
Now I used to use Tramp years ago and I'm looking forward to using it again.
A Melissa and patchouli combination that's quite hard to describe in words, but it's green and called tramp.
What more can you ask for really?

The body lotion is my favourite and I am still gutted that Lush ever discontinued it.
Potion.
Full of Rose and Tangerine oil. It's smells divine.
I wish Lush made a perfume in it because this is definitely my signature smell and it moisturises like a dream.

So expect a more detailed review in a couple of weeks but I'm so excited to try these products out. That I might just have to run myself a bath right now...

Garnier Nutrisse Ultra color: Review.

Now in the nine years I have dyed my hair. It has been a fast array of colours.
From Orange.

Blue/Black.

Red.

Pink.

And even multi coloured.

But I realised that my true hair colour will always be blonde.
So for the last six months I have been back to my stereotypical blonde ways and the dye I have been using to do it is Garnier Nutrisse Ultra color in Ice Blonde.

Now it's fantastic for me because it lightens my very dark blonde roots, without me having to use a pre-lightener before hand. Win.

Here is some classy photos of me looking attractive whilst the dye is on my head. (That was sarcasm by the way)

This is the end result of thirty minutes of hair dye.

Now I find the Garnier Nutrisse is great for blondes. It keeps my hair hydrated. (Mainly by the intense conditioner you put on after dye-ing your hair) and I find that I only have to use it ever six weeks or so.
I have very thin and easily breakable hair. So to find a decent hair dye that looks after my hair, dyes my very dark roots, is affordable and doesn't look like a fake blonde. Is hard to find.

But I think I have definitely found all of the above in Garnier Nutrisse.
You can find Garnier Nutrisse in major supermarkets, Boots and Superdrug.

Have you tried Garnier Nutrisse Ultra color?
Did it work for you?

GlossyBox nail varnishes. O.P.I and Ciate.

So in June and July's Glossybox I received some nail varnishes.
In July's box I got Ciate in Kitten Heels and in June's box I got O.P.I in Coronation.

Now the Ciate is full size and the O.P.I was a mini.
Now I have never used Ciate before but I was very impressed.
I am not normally a red nail varnish kind of girl but what I liked about Ciate was the coverage.
Two coats was all I needed and it dried quickly too.

Plus it had a flat, wide brush which made applying Ciate a doddle.

The kitten heels shade also had a gold shimmer running through it, which for me made the colour more likeable.

Now I have used O.P.I for years and love the brand. So I was very excited to get a glitter nail varnish. YAY GLITTER.
Now Coronation on it's own is very beautiful, but because the silver base is not very transparent it just doesn't work over other nail varnish.
This is a huge shame because it had some many gorgeous types of glitter in. Something you don't get to see very often in glitter nail varnish.
However. It's coverage was great and it looks fantastic even on it's own.

This is what the varnishes looked like on my nails.
O.P.I on my index.
Ciate on my middle and both on my ring finger.
(Sorry about my stubs. I have had a few nail breakages recently.)

I definitely think that I will be purchasing some new Ciate nail varnishes in the near future.
Not only is the brand good but did you see the cute little bow on the bottle. Divine. :)
But with O.P.I I may just stick with the more jazzy colours.

You can get O.P.I from www.opi.com/ and you can get Ciate from www.ciate.co.uk/

The wedding nail trend.

So a couple of weeks ago Vanessa Hudgens started a nail varnish trend.
Now my readers know I love a nail trend.

This trend however doesn't have a name. So I'm giving it one.
The Wedding nail.
Vanessa Hudgens Beauty

Because it involves painting your ring finger a different colour to your other nails.

Now I tried this earlier.
Now sadly it did chip a little but you get the general gist.
Now Vanessa painted her nails in similar tones.

I went for clashing colours.

I used Nails Inc in Copacabana on the wedding finger and Misguided in sea blue on the other fingers.
You can get the Missguided nail Varnish free with this month's UK Cosmo.

Now I am loving this look and I'm definitely going to try out some more colour combinations.
I will do a photo post on them later in the week. I promise better painted nails :)

So is the wedding nail trend a winner for you?
I would love to hear your comments.

SteamCream Review

Hello Bloggers
Sorry I have been away.
I'm back now though. Yay. :)

So a couple of weeks ago I got given some pots of SteamCream to try out.
Now SteamCream for those who don't know is a cream that can be used to moisturise face, body and hands.
It's has won numerous awards including the Beauty insiders choice 2010.

Now here's why SteamCream is different to other body lotions and creams.

"STEAMCREAM have pioneered the use of a steam technique to create this unique, gentle and loosely-bound emulsion. This looseness allows each ingredient – including a moisturising and soothing oatmeal infusion, orange flower water and healing lavender oil – to breakdown and penetrate areas of the skin that other creams find hard to reach.

So it's the steam infusion that makes this cream so good. Wonder where they came up with the name. :)

Now what I adore about SteamCream is how healing it is.
I suffered severe sunburn on my arms with the lovely weather we had a couple of weeks ago and when I put SteamCream on my arms. It didn't sting and within three uses. The redness had gone and for once I actually have a tan and no peeling either. Win.
It's also amazing on dry skin, eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.

This is mainly due to the lavender and soothing oatmeal. Lovely natural ingredients. (We like this a lot)
It's also vegan. (Yay to not being tested on animals)
The smell is not like a perfumed body lotion, but like an old school concoction made in someone's lab. It reminds me an old school remedy.
I also love how thin the formula is, because it makes applying the SteamCream a breeze and it means you use less, which is always a plus.

Plus the tins are so unbelievably cute and come in loads of limited editions and patterns and because it's only 75g it can go in hand luggage on your flight too or fit snug in your handbag.

SteamCream is available on ASOS or online at www.steamcream.eu
For £10.95 a tin. It does sound like a lot but it's worth the cash.

Ruby and Millie: Green nails.

So a huge sorry for the lack of posts lately.
I have been so behind the last couple of weeks but it will get better.
Promise. :)

Now this week and last week Boots have been having a 75% off sale on Ruby and Millie products.
This nail varnish (Which I will talk about now) I managed to get in Manchester.

Now I love green nail varnish but I usually go for a more dark or metallic green.
So this one was a more unusual choice for me.

This is what it looks like on my nails in a low light.

And this is what it looks like in the bottle.

The colour is neon-ish or has my mum decided to call it... puce green but if your looking for it Ruby and Millie call it colour 710C.

Now the main benefits was that it only took 3 coats to get a fantastic deep coverage, which is good for a quite light/neon colour.

It is a colour I wouldn't normally go for but it's fast becoming a new favourite of mine.
Plus it's bang on trend for the summer.
A winner in my book.
If your Boots store has any colours left it's just £2.50.
You can also get it for a short time (Until stock runs out) online at www.boots.com

Do you think it's a nice colour? Is green really in?

Sunday 29 May 2011

Yes this post contains actually glitter.

So after a small time away from the blog.
I'm back.
Hopefully better then ever.
*Crosses fingers*

So you might of noticed I have tinkered a little bit with the blog design.
I have decided to go for something a little bit simpler.
So I hope you like the new look.
I'm still tweaking parts of it has we speak but let me know if you like the new design.

So back to the post in hand.
On Thursday I went to Manchester for a visit and I ended up buying what may be the most me product I have ever found.

The NYX Glitterati cream pallet.

21 glitter gels in one beautiful palette.
Now every one knows anything glitter wise is very me.
And this I couldn't resist.

Now has you can see, it has most colours of glitter in here. So no worrying about if my glitter will clash with my outfit or make up.
Now it is a glitter gel.
So it doesn't dry quickly so it's can be hard to layer and get full coverage of glitter.
So if your looking for that I wouldn't bother with this.

But for just a hint of glitter. To highlight key areas it's amazing.
You can use on your face, body and even your hair.
Here is how a few colours look.
Now you can see the lack of coverage but because the glitter is mixed with a gel. You can easily put more glitter on top without having to put more adhesive (Aka vaseline or moisturizer) on.
However when you spread the glitter gel thinly it dries really well. Making it a great body glitter.

For me.
The glitter palette is going to be one of those products I get out again and again because it is so useful.
For highlighting and for jazzing up make up.
For price and the use I'm going to get out of it.
It is well worth it.

But if you want to try the glitter out. You can buy a small palette with five colours in.
Available from Urban outfitters.

Yep that's my fault.

But this is just a quick note just to say that the Glitter blog will be back up and running by Sunday.
So keep checking back.

I promise it will be worth it.

I have new purchases to talk about.
Some reviews and a product swap shop coming up too.

I'm excited. I hope you are too.

Cracking glass Gromit.

Well I decided to use my Barry M instant nail effects in black today.

However after six months, it had obviously given up the will to live and I came back to this.
It even crackled inside the bottle.
Shows that to the end it still worked.

Even the brush had a crackle moment.

Think it might be time to purchase a new black crackle.
Oops.

Monday 16 May 2011

Hands down. It was a surprise.

So hello all.
Especially to the new followers I have picked up recently.
I hope your all well.

Now for the last six months or so. I have been trying to run down my body lotion collection because I had about fifteen and I was running out of room for them and in the same box where I keep my body lotions are also my hand creams.
Now I thought I had just a couple.

So when the empty box revealed that I had six. I was quite shocked.
Now six isn't a huge number but for someone you thought I had two, three tops.
It's quite a shock really. Especially has I don't use them everyday.
Now in order.
Top Row: Lush smitten
Bottom row from left to right: L'occitane hand cream, Avon signature silk hand cream, Johnson's 24 hour moisture hand cream, Avon planet spa hand cream and Bare by Elle Macpherson hand cream.

Now my two favourites have to be these two.
I have the L'Occitane in my bag at all times because my job involves a lot of hand washing so my hands get constantly dry. I love the neutral smell, it's also not greasy and soaks in really quickly. Which I like in the day. My only issue is that the lid does tend to go missing or not screw on properly, which is a bit annoying.

You can get it here.

The Lush smitten hand cream. Smells like marzipan (I smell I adore) and is a little more thicker. So I tend to use that at night. It also lasts for ages. I have had a pot since Christmas and I have hardly made a dent. The only problem is that you can only get this Lush product online now not in stores.

A special mention has to go to this though.
The smell is actually divine and it gives your hands a beautiful glow. There are also loads of other Avon products in the signature silk range. Like body lotions and body wash.
The best thing about this hand cream is the price.
At the moment is it only £1.55
What a bargain.
You can get it here.

So what has this made me realise.
Well maybe it's time to do what I did with the body lotions and until I get down to two.
No more hand creams for Tiff.
So I think I will be using hand cream everyday now. :)

Does anyone else have lots of hand creams or is it just me?
