A hair colour disaster and back to Make Up everyday.

Hey Bloggers

Since the last time I did a proper blog my image has gone through some what of a massive change.

Getting back from university with No job, no car, no boyfriend and the loss of friends whilst moving back home was extremely hard.

This affected not only my confidence but my image too.

I went through the joggers (Where you make no effort and jogging bottoms seem the most fitting thing) period of my life where the only thing missing is a tub of Ben and Jerry's and singing all by myself. Luckily this didn't happen but what did happen was Make Up didn't turn up on my face for nearly two months and I got some bad root-age on the blonde hair front.

It has only been recently that things turned around (with getting a job and all) that I have fell in love with Make Up all over again.

I have found some new products and I can't wait to start reviewing and showing too on video :) what they look like and how it will look for you.

My hair still is odd. After deciding to get rid of the blonde hair do. I decided to go back to my natural colour....This didn't work and it went what I can only describe as the worst shade of grey I have ever seen.

So I had to go darker then I wanted and go brown. So not quite the gorgeous colour I was hoping for but in some good news, I am getting my hair cut but I am not going short again. In fact I have recently decided to grow my hair and the last time it was below chin level was three years ago. So it's about time.

The photo above shows me on my 20th birthday with my hair the last time it was quite long.

Next time....False eyelashes?

Back online and back to blogging.

Hello Bloggers

Very long time no see.
I am very sorry for the lack of MakeUpGirl blogs but since I have been back from university I have had no internet and it is only now that I'm back online and am ready to re-start blogging properly.

At the moment I am working full time but I will try at blog at least once a week.

I am also in the process of starting a you tube video, showcasing make up tips, product reviews and much more.

So I hope that you look forward to seeing the blog transform in the next few days, weeks and months.

Greige is the new Black...

Hey Bloggers

Long time no speak but I am now back to my blog winning ways.

So it's time I talked about one of the new trends in nail varnish colours and how to get it at a bargain price.

Greige is the new colour of nails. It is a merge of the words grey and beige and it is a fantastic way of making your nails look extremely sophisticated and at first I was really not sure that the colour suited me but after about an hour I was hooked. I am really loving that fact that nail colours have sort of come back into fashion and that more and more colours are appearing on beauty shelves.

The best thing about greige is that at the moment you can get this look at a reasonable price because of a new diet coke promotion in boots. If you buy two diet coke 500ml bottles (Which cost about £2.50 for the two depending on where you live) you get a free nails inc colour for free.

New York is a bright pink colour, Milan is a hot red colour, Paris is a beautiful purple/plum colour and London is the nude/Greige colour.

All four are fab colours and if you brought a nails inc colour on there own it would be at £10 but by buying the diet coke your a getting a nails inc colour nail varnish for a quarter of the price and staying bang on fashion trend. Bargain!

Ps Blogger is not letting me move pictures at the moment so I just stuck them at top. So there is a picture of all four nail colours and a picture of me. (Without make up oooops and my new diet coke nails inc London nail colour and me wearing said colour)

I promise to be better...

Hey Bloggers

Long time no see and that is down to me.

I haven't posted anything on the Make Up Girl blog for nearly 4 months. My excuse was university work but now I have free time I don't want to neglect this blog anymore.

So hopefully by this week Make Up Girl will be up and running again. :)

I have plenty to talk about Make Up wise so keep looking in and hopefully blogs will start appearing again in the next few days.

Outrageous Make Up...

Hey Bloggers.

Long time no speak lately.
What with me not having an Internet connection at home and the fact I have been busy preparing work for uni. The blog has been a bit left behind, but fear not over the holidays I wrote several blogs that will over the next week or two be put up to see.

So back to business.

Do you sometimes find that you see or hear something and the same day or whenever it gets mentioned yet it has not been talked about for ages and yet you only thought or saw or heard about it not long after.

For example I listened to a song I hadn't heard for ages and then over the course of the week it seemed to be played everywhere, on radio, in shops and at friends houses.

This happened to me today involving Make Up.

In good old Primark I was having a usual look around for a bargain when I looked and saw this girl who not only was wearing gorgeous black eyeliner and had beautiful false lashes that looked real but around her eye she had three gorgeous blue coloured gems stuck to near her eye. The first thing I thought was of the photos of Make Up you see in art shows and Catwalks of that beautiful Over the top Make Up where it is not about naturalism but about showing off and in turn showing your best features.

Later when I went to my Friend Jen's house. Her housemate Emma was discussing how on our student night on Wednesday we should go wild and glam with our Make Up for change. This brings me to the point of nothing for ages with Make Up, get a idea and someone else picks up on it without having to say anything.

This Look Make Up is big with Music stars the most recent one is of Lily Allen.

As you can see from these Photos she has embraced the over dramatic eyeshadow and Glitter and it shows off a really different side to Lily. (Credit to PerezHilton.com for the first Lily photo: I don' t want get sued lol)

But of course the over dramatic make came from the Glam Rockers of the 70's people such as Bryan Ferry, David Bowie and of course Adam Ant took this look and ran away with it. It didn't matter that they were men, they were outrageous with their Make Up as they were off stage.
Bowie and Ant on the covers of their albums.

Now it is my turn to try and go a bit outrageous. In the next few days I will try some looks and post them on here and also of course I will show you the finished product on Wednesday/Thursday.

This is the one thing I have always wanted to do Make Up wise and now finally all those years experimenting in my Bedroom (No wrong ideas lol) with Make Up may actually come to fruition.

But what does it smell of....?

Hey Bloggers

I am sorry for my late blog. I have had this blog in my head for about a week but due to uni work and muchos crazy times. This has been the first chance I have got to really talk to you.

Three years ago I worked at the perfume shop. I loved this job more then life itself. When I started working there I knew nothing about Perfume at all apart from a couple of perfume brands. By the time I left the perfume shop to go to university. I knew more about perfume then I can ever imagine.

The one thing I was good at whilst working there, was when a customer was describing a perfume they had seen in an advert or on TV. I was good at working out which one they meant.
This was mainly because I watch way too much TV and I read so many celebrity magazines that my room could easily be wallpapered with them.

Now I have been out of the perfume world for three years I have found something that really grinds my gears...

Perfume adverts

Comedian Lee Mack has the best quote for why perfume adverts annoy me

Talking about French perfume adverts
"The French perfume adverts, they make so much sense don't they? I see her, I want her, she is what she is, she sees, but she is blind, she has legs but she has no legs, she is alive but she is dead, she is a woman but she is a monkey and I want her because she is what she is and she is a blind, dead, disabled monkey and I know that I want her Shalimar by Guerlain....What does it smell of?"

It is so true. Adverts can't tell you what the perfume smells of, it just gives you an uneducated guess.

Perfume advert tend to contain one of these codes and conventions

  • A woman in a bed of flowers
  • If it is Chanel then it is usually filmed by a Hollywood director
  • If it is Jean Paul Gaultier it tends to be semi naked men and women
  • A famous actress or model looking like the perfume is the only thing in existence.
  • Mountains of fruit in the background
  • A rock song soundtrack like Muse or the Yeah, Yeah,Yeahs
  • A man jumping into water (Because that means its fresh...)
  • and if there is not a woman swirling her self in waves of fabric then it tends not to be a perfume advert in my eyes.
  • Unachievable beautiful models who look like they haven't ate for a year
  • and if it is pink, purple or orange it is for girls or if it is blue, green, silver or brown it tends to be for a man.
It is bad when I watch perfume adverts and within 10 seconds I can name the company and the perfume. It is so depressing.

I feel sorry for the guys and girls who still work in the industry who get attacked with at least 50 new perfumes and still have the 1000's to contend with every Christmas and in the middle of all that have to remember every advert just in case someone doesn't really know what perfume they want.

To all you Perfume workers I wish you a sane Christmas and to every person exposed to these adverts just be grateful you can switch over.

Excuse me, Did you say you give good head?

Hey Bloggers

Don't worry I will explain the title of this blog very soon. Don't panic I promise it is beauty blog and not soft core porn.

But I need to tell you about an obsession that I'm hoping doesn't just affect me.

In the make up world I have two major bug bears.

1. The magic tide line of foundation...Seriously just rub it in properly!
2. Blackheads...The numpty of my beauty life.

Number one I can just about cope with but number two is a killer. Now I don't want people thinking that I'm staring at your blackheads because I still have them too. The problem with blackheads, is once you have one your pore never closes again. So you keep getting them back which is not helpful.

My bug bear is people who have blackheads you can see even by sitting a foot away from them.

It kills me because it's so simple to remove them and if I see one on someone I have to literally restrain myself from walking up to them with a tissue and going please let me help you.

So I am going to tell you a way to remove them so hopefully you won't see me panicking and getting into a hot sweat because I can't do anything about it.

So here are the MakeUpGirl Top tips

  1. The best time to pick them is after a shower or bath as the steam helps soften them
  2. Try to wrap your fingers in tissue so you don't transfer germs elsewhere on your face
  3. Then place your finger on both sides of the blackhead and gently start to push and ease the blackhead out.
  4. If it is a stubborn one, just leave it for another day and repeat the process.
  5. Above all don't become like me and start obsessing over them, life is too short but make sure you can't see them from afar :D
So I hope that does help. I'm worried now that people are thinking that I judge them now but I know it is only because of my beauty training (and your trained to spot the imperfections) and that I want people to see how easy to remove something so yucky as blackheads...

I promise I am nice :D

By the way the title...Well if I told you it was about blackheads you probably wouldn't read it however since most people are dirty minded a little trick won't hurt
