Monochrome eyes?

Hey all.
I hope you are all having a lovely day :)

So with the Spring just around the corner. Pastels always get a comeback for this season, whether its eyes, cheeks or lips but lately a more classic eye colour has taken the fold.
But with a huge twist.

Normally this look tends to be in vogue for Autumn/winter but now...

Black and white is the new look for the eye this season.

On dancing on ice on Sunday, one way to showcase this look was seen.
Nina Ulanova was partnering Steven Arnold (Of Coronation street, under a tram fame) and their routine was a clown meets madness look.

Bottom of the leader board: Arnold and Ulanova didn't impress the judges
This is beautiful but extremely difficult you need a steady hand and plenty of time.

This is just one way of working this trend, but there are more simple ways of achieving this look, whilst still being on trend

There are three main ways this can be done.

The first is the split eyeshadow. A simple and easy look. So simple that you don't even need to use a brush and because the white is in the corner of the eye, it makes your eyes look bigger. Result.

The second is to cover your eye in white shadow and then just line your eyes with black. This is good for shaping your eye, because you control the thickness of the liner. So you can go minimal for the day and show stopping for the night.

The third is to do a gothic swop and place black shadow all over the lid and line under the eye with white to really attract attention. With this look you have to keep the nips and cheeks, very minimal otherwise you will end up looking like Robert Smith of The Cure*

What I love is that these looks are great for day and night. You can tone them down for the day or vamp it up for the night.
Monochrome always comes in and out of fashion but what I love about this, is that in Spring you can actually see how amazing it looks because for once it isn't dark outside :)

*For the record I love Robert Smith and his crazy make up for the stage, but for a day/night time look it may not be right. :)
